MY TOP FIVE FAVORITE MOMENTS WITH MY FRIEND MICHAEL

6.  That time when we inexplicably began singing Gary Numan’s “Cars” at the same time.

5.  That time when I said “Hop in!” and he did and I pushed the shopping cart across a parking lot and into a curb.

4.  That time when entered some sort of animal-role-playing-sex-chatroom on AOL and made fun of everyone.

3. That time when our friend Ben kept asking Michael to ask one of his sisters to give him a back rub.

2. That time when I wrecked Ben while we played a racing game and he proceeded to get revenge by wrecking Michael who was easily in first place.

1. All those hours we logged playing inane racing, shooting, and basketball games.

Random Thoughts:

My external hard drive died.

When things like that happen, you truly realize that most things in life are a hassle. A week later, I had all of the music copied from my iPod to my internal.

I lost all of the bootlegs I’d accumulated throughout the years.

I was over collecting bootlegs years ago.

If I could bring the hard drive to life I would. Just to kill it.

When you have an irritable bowel, rolaids can become close friends.

I think I’d kill the hard drive with fire. Or maybe drown it in soap.

The worst part is, I have no idea of how to properly dispose of it. So it’s been sitting on my desk for the last month.

I don’t think drowning it in soap is my answer.

So, I blew off May. June was a far better month for music. In this edition, I’ve mostly included rock music along with a few electronic lullabies. Also, beginning with this edition, I’m including links to each band or artist’s website (not their Myspace page because I dislike Myspace like a fat kid hates walking) and a link to download the single.

April Fool’s Day came and went and I can’t praise my April line-up enough. There’s a lot of feel-good rock tracks, some enjoyable electronica tracks, one funk track, and one Santogold track.

For the cold weather, good riddance to March. The only thing I hate about April is April Fool’s Day. 90% of websites try to out onion the funny 5% and fail miserably. The other 5% just get high.

Musically, March had a few noteworthy additions. Included in this edition are singles from the band that’s the farthest thing from rap also known as DeVotchKa, the singer/songwriter Destroyer, the poppy collaboration between singer/songwriter M. Ward and actress Zooey Deschanel named She & Him, the alternative rock band The Raconteurs, and the independent rock band, who stole their name from Jerry Lee Lewis, What Made Milwaukee Famous.

February is here and, aside from the occasional 70 degree day, winter is in full blast. But, that doesn’t mean you need to curl up with a warm blanket and an Elliot Smith album. During this month, like every other month, rock bands are playing rock music. February highlights include an anthem-rock single from the reunited British Sea Power, pop offerings from the Headlights and Lightspeed Champion, an alternative-rock single from Nada Surf, a nerd-folk single from The Mountain Goats, a heroin-noise-rock single from The Raveonettes.
