Things out there seem to be mostly the same. People still have problems getting work and Ron Paul seems to be the only candidate so far who even attempts to answer questions and topics posed to him in a debate.

In a sad note, it seems who is IOZ has gone off the blogging grid permanently. While I’d like to think we could full that void (Will certainly could), he was definitely my better.

I’m still unsure if I’ll start plugging links to things I write from the Nappy Cat, or just keep forcing people to the RSS feed. I’m thinking of using TwitterFeed to have Twitter automatically post things from the blog. If you have any other suggestions, let me know.

Also, while I’m not sure I have access to do so, Will might be able to make a “latest Tweets” box somewhere on our web page so that you (for those of you who don’t care for RSS or Twitter) can just come to our site and see what he (I’m not sure if he still uses his Twitter account) and I have been linking to lately.

One more thing regarding the last post I wrote about Twitter. I still stand by the RSS feed problems it has (all the replies to fans/friends and retweets of content). I will say this however. Subscribing to a user’s RSS feeds allows you to see if they’re answering their fans, and even give you an idea of just how much self promoting goes on. Remember how I singled out Tim Harford last time? Well, not only has he actually toned it down (not by my accord, I assure you), but he really is an answer-centric user. A lot more Neil deGrasse Tyson than Sara Benincassa. By the way, that’s not a shot at Sara because she actually does have some great content.

Oh, and let me ask anyone reading this: If there is a worry that Facebook has reached its MySpace moment, not only do I want to ask what would replace Facebook, but more relevantly, what would replace Twitter when it reaches that point? Or, will Twitter not reach that point? And if not, why not?

But we’re still here, and we’ll be doing our best to churn out more writing in the future.

The long reason is vbulletin costs too much money to maintain. $150 got me a license and a year of access to updates. I joined their network at a time when updates weren’t too forthcoming and, a year later, I decided against shelling out $50 to obtain another year’s access. However, vbulletin is now releasing updates at a pace of one per month or so. This means that my site is open to old and currently patched exploits.

Now, I know what you’re thinking. “It’s 50 bucks you miserly asshat.” If I did update, I would have to shell out another $50 to upgrade vbgallery. Additionally, the arcade has not been updated by its developer for well over a year now and would not function after any system upgrade.

Vbulletin is great forum software, but extending it to include those modifications that the original package should have included for its price is a pain in the ass. WordPress, on the other hand, is readily updatable, free, and flexible.

So, enjoy the arcade while it’s there and ogle some wallpaper. Blogicology will be closed, without any further warning, when The Nappy Cat Chronicles is ready.

We’re back! Contrary to published reports:

Those online during the wee hours of the sleepy Sunday evening before Martin Luther King Day received an unexpected treat when word spread that mysterious (and now disappeared) Nappy Cat Blog had abruptly leaked a complete disc’s worth of tracks from the long rumored, still untitled Beck album (now named “Guero” — slang for “fair-haired white boy” — and slated for a March 29 release).

For whatever reason, we ran a bit over bandwidth last month. So, I had to put the site offline. Skibicki was so heartbroken, he attempted to slit his wrists with a spoon. Which, of course, had him end up in a state ran asylum in New York. Because of an old wager, I lost money on the deal. It has long been speculated that Skibicki would eventually end up in an asylum. I, however, took the high and hopeful road that he would stay out of such a facility before his 30th birthday. Of course, that is what I get for being optimistic.

Now, back to reality, you can expect great nothings from the Nappy Cat Chronicles. More entries will be made and, eventually, the site will be semi-redesigned. I know the anticipation will keep me in stitches. Well, not really.

Anyway, remember.. When all of life’s problems weigh down on you

There is an apparent buzz about the yet titled album. Opinions range from “it sounds like Beck” to “phenomenal”. The tracks are obviously not completed as reported on Beck’s newspage. Given the excitement for the unfinished tracks, I can only hope that you purchase the album upon its release and stop coming here to look for it.
